Our initial project will be the restoration of two National Cultural Treasures, the San Isidro Labrador Church and Convent of Lazi Siquijor. Both structures have been included in the Philippine National Commission on Culture and Art's (NCCA) list of 26 Outstanding Heritage Churches of the Philippines that are targeted for restoration. The Philippine National Museum (NM) declared all these 26 structures as National Cultural Treasures covered by Republic Act No. 4846. The Lazi Church and Convent have also been declared as National Historical Landmarks by the National Historical Institute under Presidential Decree # 260 dated August 1, 1973.
"When a group of structures like the Lazi
Church and Convent exudes the craft, skill and expertise of the locals, and thus
becoming an outstanding example of local and colonial architecture, such becomes
not just a part of the propagation of the Catholic religion but also the
development of the Siquijodnons as a whole, that is, their culture, social life,
dreams, aspirations and strength as a people."
